Re: Dyspraxia Suport groups in the Midlands/North of England.
Hi William Welcome to the Forum. :D Been trying to reply but had a bit of trouble as I'd forgotten my password. I'm having a very dyspraxic week. I was trying to show a decorator to the right building to paint his door and I got both of us well and truly lost as I couldn't remember where the buildin...

Re: Dyspraxia Suport groups in the Midlands/North of England.
Hi Pussinboots here I've only just seen this particular post. I have also wondered about a group in my area. I live in Cressbrook now in Derbyshire which is just under 4 miles from Bakewell so not that far as the crow flies from Chesterfield or Sheffield. (I used to live in Sheffield) However, my tr...

Re: New and grateful to have found you all!
Hi I'm pussinboots and a bit older too. Welcome to the forum. It's great to know our difficulties are shared by others. I always feel so different to others as well. Everyone where I work (and I've had lots of jobs) always seem very confident and I'm still 12 in my head and not nearly as pushy as pe...

Re: New Member
Hi and Welcom, I'm pussinboots. I drop things too. Also I walk into things, fall down sometimes and I've crashed my car twice in six weeks. Fortunately only the metal cars were hurt! Bit scared to get back in it though. Think it's great that you're managing independently, I share your woes with cook...

Hi Chloe and welcome to the forum
I found out I had dyspraxia quite late on too (I'm now 49). I can sympathise. Perhaps we can compare notes and problems?
You'll love the forum anyway.

Re: Teaching
I did a PGCE for Further and HIgher Education and got to do a placement with young adults with special needs which I really enjoyed as I could relate to a lot of them in the group I had. However, with Drama as my main subject getting a post at the end of the course proved to be difficult. I did get ...

Hi Rosie
Welcome to the forum. I've found it's great to find people who find the same things difficult. Hope you find a great teaching job.
Cheers

Re: How long did it take you to learn to drive?
It took me about 30 years off and on. Honest! I had 12 different instructors over the years and evenutally I passed in March this year aged 49 in an automatic car at my 6th attempt!!! I'm over the moon about it though and I'm nervous about being on probation for the two years after passing as I woul...

Re: Driving schools for dyspraxics?
Raisin Girl I've had a real rocky ride learning to drive with no end of instructors throughout the years. Like you I had to give up a couple of times as I went away to college and another time I ran out of money. I found someone in Matlock near where I live who understands dyspraxia. He teaches lots...

I know how you feel about a late diagnosis. I've always had co-ordination problems and terrible times at school especially in PE and games. I found out via this website. I'd read a book about dyspraxia and I couldn't believe it was everything that had happened to me throughout my life. This forum ca...

I've just found this forum again. I only knew I had dyspraxia about a year or so ago. I always knew there was something wrong though. I did my PGCE at Bolton as well!!! I did mine in 1991/2 though. So did my mate Martin. He got a job in Sutton Coldfield. I didn't get a job. I've had loads of unrelat...

Welcome Vincent. I only discovered I'm dyspraxic last year. I've always known I was a bit 'unusual' though!
Great that you managed to master driving. I really need to do that and keep failing my test in an automatic car. Any tips gratefully received

I know just how you are feeling. I didn't realise what was wrong with me is Dyspraxia until the last few years. I have had numerous jobs all of them end in disaster as I can't multi task either. I don't have much confidence and managed to get a degree in drama but couldn't do anything with it when I...

Heyup pussinboots, I shouldn't let 7/7 put you off public transport. It's easy to think about changing the way you go about life when something gets overeported, but the news these days is more about entertainment than information. Always best to make decisions as complete a dataset as possible rig...
